Kauai – Our Hawaiian adventure starts at the Westin in Princeville.

This was the view from our room at the Westin in Princeville.  Our room was on the bottom floor so we only had to open the glass doors to enjoy this picturesque scene.  The warm breezes, views, and the sounds of the waves crashing below made for a wonderful beginning to our vacation on Kauai.The Westin in Princeville is a stunning resort, located on the North Shore of Kauai with views of the Pacific Ocean at every turn.  This is one of the Westin’s four pools.  The hotel itself is situated 200 feet above the ocean but has a path that leads to Anini beach where you can walk and swim in the ocean.  The St Regis Hotel is the Westin’s sister hotel and as a guest of the Westin you can use the facilities at the St Regis, which is only five minutes by shuttle from the Westin and the St Regis has a larger beach area that overlooks Hanalei Bay.These guys….. I have to admit were a little intimidating at first.  The birds are Hawaiian geese and called Nene.   They were a fixture around the island and our patio:) This Nene was looking at me through the window of our hotel room and would be very close by whenever we came out.
