The quest continues…learning to cook at Stir Cooking School.

The Highlands is a distinctive and eclectic neighborhood just outside of Denver, Colorado. The area boasts charming homes, boutiques, bookstores, wine shops, and popular restaurants. I have always wanted to live in a neighborhood like this where you can just walk out of your charming house to one of the bookstores, then shop at the boutique shops, before finishing the night off by happily strolling to one of my favorite restaurants. Ahhhh……maybe someday!

Right in the middle of the Highlands is Stir, a cooking school for those who want to learn how to make the best risotto (one of the recipes of the night) as well as have an extremely good time. Located at 3215 Zuni Street this school is beautiful and inviting as soon as you walk in. They have a small bar at the beginning of the store, which offers its guests a great wine list, local beer and signature cocktails. The setting is modern, yet quirky, funky, and nostalgic. The walls are brick & the ceilings are high which adds to the character of their school.

Ryan taught us to break the asparagus by hand, stating that the stalk will break where it needs to and start cutting from there.

This guy….smelling the sautéed asparagus.  Yep it’s done!

Risotto takes time, so we had time to make friends with our classmates.

Ahh perfection.  This meal was delicious. (not shown is how we messed up by putting the onions in with the mushrooms.)  Nope…..don’t do that.  We must have been chatting and sipping wine when those instructions were given.

Station number one.  The group: Steve, Susan, Tom, Katie & Mark (not pictured…me) Also pictured is the guy who photo bombed our pic…

This was a fun evening.  The cost was 80.00 a person which included 3 hours of instruction, cooking, & a family style dinner at the end of the evening.  I rate this 4 stars out of 4.  Learning and being entertained at the same time is my idea of learning to cook!
