The Island of Capri

On our last day of vacation we had planned this trip to Capri.  The day was warm as we started out and headed down to the beach to catch the 9 am ferry.  The trip takes about 30 minutes and there are plenty of opportunities for photos & relaxation as the boat glides thru the blue Mediterranean Seas of Southern Italy.

Your ferry or private boat will dock in the Marina Grande.  Once you depart your boat, head to the center of Capri, which is the La Piazzetta and is the charming historic center of the town.  You will find shopping, restaurants, and the church, Chiesa di Santo Stefano. (Not to be outdone by my husband who has hundreds of churches with his name).  My church, Chiesa Monumental di San Michele can be found in Anacapri, the highest point of Capri.

You can rent boats or hire drivers to take you around the island.

The Blue Grotto

The Blue Grotto is a natural sea cave and the light that illuminates this cave is strongest in the morning to mid afternoon hours.  Hire a private boat from Marina Grande to go into the caves.  It’s an amazing sight!.

My search for the best Bruschetta was finally found on the Island of Capri.

After seeing tomatoes hanging from vines in many of the local shops, I wanted to try this at home.  It was so appealing and I had dreams of all the cooking I would do:)  Once I got home I found some tomatoes on a sturdy vine and tried to hang them in the kitchen, but this was an epic fail.  While I was at work the tomatoes fell and splattered on the floor where the dog and cats had their fun.

One of the things that is so great about Italy.  Every town and church spell my name correctly.

What’s more ominous than a black cat?  Need I say more…..

Lemons grow in abundance on the Almalfi Coast, the weather is absolutely perfect for this beautiful and bright citrus fruit and limoncello can be found everywhere.

Capri’s roads are windier, smaller, and yes scarier than the one that leads to the Almalfi coast.  To get to the top of Capri, there are 10 passenger buses that squeeze 25 people in during tourist season.  Love this photo. It says it all.
