The tiny island of Burano takes you back to another time and is an enchanting way to spend an afternoon.

Traveling by boat to Burano from Venice takes about 45 minutes.  The trip for us seemed short as you journey past other small islands, feel the warm sea breezes, and enjoy the moment of relaxation.  The town of Burano is known for it’s lace work and multi-colored homes.  The appeal of the town is definitely the brightly colored homes, small canals, wonderful smelling restaurants, and the many smiles you see from the people who live there as well as the visitors.  This destination made high marks for us and tourists will find plenty of choices for food & drink, as well as small shops selling artwork, clothes, jewelry & their famous lace scarves, dresses & linen.img_2937

If the owners want to paint their homes they must request permission from the government who will approve or disapprove the request.  Just like our HOA’s in the states.
