As Steve and I are traveling down country roads with our driver David and guide Dagmar there is an anticipation that we are both feeling as we near the village of Smolotely. Smolotely is about thirty minutes outside of Prague in the Czech Republic. Our guide, who is also a genealogist/translator was helping us with our family tree and was able to find this homestead where Steve’s ancestor Bárta Vopička owned this flour mill, which is house number 33. These moments in life are very surreal and we actually walked down the lane to the home and rang the doorbell to see if anyone was home. Unfortunately the only response we received was from a barking dog……
